Q: (This case is replacing CASE # 14985.) We are looking to start a relationship with Kale Aero, a Turkish based defense contractor. They want us to quote components for at least three different weapons systems, including a 5.56 AR 15 type weapon, a .308 AR 10 type, and the Turkish KMG, which is their version of the M249. Our relationship would consist of them sending us prints; and us quoting, manufacturing, and exporting these components back to Turkey. As part of the quoting and manufacturing process we would like the ability to have open technical discussions on their prints, and have been advised that the best way to make this possible would be to obtain an MLA for the relevant platforms. We are registered with the state department, and in the past have successfully applied for export permits to Israel for defense articles. We do not however, have any experience applying for an MLA. We are hoping FFLGuard can advise us on the best way to proceed, and hopefully point us to the correct resources to aid in this application.
